TIG Supported the Launch of DEC 6MW Onshore Wind Turbine with the Highest Single Unit Capacity in China

On April 20, DEC Tianjin successfully launched the DEW-5.5S-172 permanent magnet direct-drive onshore wind turbine, which DEC independently developed with full autonomous intellectual property rights. It is an onshore permanent magnet direct-drive wind turbine with China's largest impeller diameter and the highest single-unit capacity.


TIG's 160V12F supercapacitor module, as an energy storage solution provider, contributed to the successful launch of the wind turbine with the highest capacity due to its technical cost advantages, low internal resistance, long life, high energy, and power density, and good low-temperature performance.


As we all know, in order to manage the aerodynamic torque and aerodynamic power captured by the wind turbine, the fan pitch control system can alter the angle of attack of the airflow to the blade by modifying the pitch angle of the blade. A contentious and challenging research topic on the control technology of big wind turbines is the stable pitch control.


The DEC 6MW draught fan has more than 3,600 hours of trouble-free operation on average, which raises the bar for the fan pitch control system. The supercapacitor, the final line of defense for fan safety, is essential as the unit's primary energy storage component to ensure the device's safe, reliable, and effective operation.


Currently, TIG provides backup power for the fan pitch control system for key wind turbine manufacturers, including Goldwind, GE, Mingyang, Windey, Shanghai Electric, DEC, Sany, and CRRC. TIG also maintains close ties with the leading pitch cabinet manufacturers in the sector.


According to DEC, a single unit of a DEC 6MW wind turbine can produce 22 million kilowatt hours of clean power annually under the design wind speed, reducing the consumption of coal by more than 7,150 tons, carbon dioxide emissions by more than 17,300 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by more than 120 tons, and nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 180 tons, with significant energy savings and emission reduction benefits.
